Drosera australis is a diminutive pygmy sundew native to Western Australia. It is named for its southerly distribution in the state.
Drosera australis is a small sundew, growing to around 1.5 cm in diameter. The leaves have very thin petioles and round laminae, which lie flat on the ground. The flowers are typically 5 petalled and coloured white, usually with pink streaks. The stigmas and white, somewhat thickened and curved upwards.
The species grows along the south coast of Western Australia, extending towards Esperance. It grows in wet spots in coastal heathland, such as the margins of seasonally inundated swampy depressions. The foliage of Drosera australis is very similar to that of D. pygmaea, with which it shares part of its range. It is distinguished by its five petalled flowers (those of D. pygmaea are typically four-petalled).
