Utricularia at Kanangra-Boyd National Park

Utricularia at Kanangra-Boyd National Park

A network of shallow seasonally moist heathland swamps forms atop the sandstone cliffs of the Kanangra Plateau. As the ground dries out in summer, a profusion of Utricularia dichotoma and U. uniflora come to bloom.

Utricularia dichotoma perched on a cliff
The sandstone plateau retains water well, leading to a network of shallow swamps. Utricularia dichotoma grows in the skeletal soils.
The occasional patch of Utricularia uniflora grows alongside U. dichotoma.
This frilly form of U. uniflora is probably one of the prettiest I’ve seen for the species.
