One of my goals in New Zealand was to find the yellow-flowered form of Drosera binata. The plants have delicate sulphur-coloured blooms that only open on sunny days. When growing in exposed conditions, the leaves usually have two points but plants will readily bifurcate more when shaded or under the cover of ferns. Despite being poorly known, the plants are widespread across the South Island, growing in sphagnum bogs, heathlands and sand plains. The plants have also been discovered at the bottom of the North Island, but they are not well observed there.
