Terracotta Seepage Planter – June 2023

My terracotta seepage planter has evolved since I created it roughly two and a half years ago. Drosera adelae has well and truly taken over, covering every inch of the moss layer through natural budding from its roots. How it continues to put out new leaves amazes me – the thin layer of moss and peat must be running out of nutrients by now. The plants thrive off the fungus gnats from the neighbouring Alocasias in my room and a few very occasional liquid fertiliser drops.

The original Pinguicula laueana has survived with its large leaves capable of competing with the tangle of sundews, although some of its cuttings seem to have been out-competed. Unfortunately, the U. grampiana never flowered – It can be difficult simulating the environmental cues needed for blooming in cultivation.
